American Civil War Museum

297 Steinwehr Avenue
Gettysburg, PA
(727) 334-6245
Located 54.63 miles from WaterSide Campground & RV Park
The museum, containing more than 35 scenes and over 300 life-size wax figures, was and still is intended to give the visitor an understanding of the causes and consequences of the Civil War, as well as some familiarity with the leading personalities who shaped the conflict.

Since the museum's opening, more than 8 million visitors have passed through this Gettysburg landmark. Popular with school groups, and families alike, the museum remains the only attraction in Gettysburg to depict the events of the entire Civil War, as well as discuss the events of the Battle of Gettysburg and Lincoln's famous Gettysburg Address.

Enhancements are continuously made throughout the museum complex. In 2000, the area adjacent to the museum was developed into "Veteran's Park." The park provides a tranquil setting with benches, shade trees and plantings of which are indigenous to the area. In 2001, the Battle room exhibit was updated to include a digitally enhanced audiovisual presentation.
